Artist Details

Born in 1968 in Jamshedpur, India, Ranadip Mukherjee graduated with First-Class-First from the Government College of Arts & Crafts in 1992, Calcutta. Currently based in Mumbai as a full-time artist, he made his debut with a solo exhibition at the esteemed Academy of Fine Arts in Calcutta in 1991, marking the beginning of his lifelong commitment to being a professional artist and immersing himself in his creative world.    Ranadip’s latest works are based on and inspired by the old historical city of Banaras in Uttar Pradesh (Northern part of India). Having visited Banaras since his college days, in every season, he finds it to be the perfect place to portray India’s rich culture. In Banaras, each person engages in different activities on the Ghats, contributing to the diverse character of the city. The splendid combination of massive architectures against the Ganges River serves as a profound source of inspiration for him. His current artwork draws inspiration from the serene allure of midnight, capturing the captivating motion of water while seated by a peaceful lake.    Ranadip says, “I am trying to capture Banaras to create a window-like composition. I believe that every man’s world is essentially a composite of both aspects. The window is therefore my personal metaphor for ‘Home and the World,’ symbolizing the relationship between man’s private reality existence and his vital need to remain connected with the larger world outside. This is the reason I love Banaras and love to paint Banaras.” Most of his works are executed in acrylics, combined with charcoal and soft pastel on canvas.    Ranadip Mukherjee has participated in 'Art in Industry' Art Camps by Tata Steel, Jamshedpur, in 2005, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012. Additionally, his works have been showcased in India, Switzerland, Dubai, Singapore, Indonesia, Italy, UK and the USA.
