Artist Details
Lalit Sharma (b. 1953, Nathdwara) is a distinguished artist who carries forward the legacy of miniature painting, a tradition inherited from his father, master artist Ghanshyam Sharma. Holding a Master’s Degree in Drawing and Painting from the University of Udaipur, Lalit has cultivated a distinctive artistic language that blends the intricate detailing of traditional miniatures with modernist sensibilities.
His work is deeply inspired by the architectural grandeur of Rajasthan—its palaces, temples, and vibrant cityscapes—alongside spiritual and scriptural imagery, which he reinterprets through a contemporary lens. Expansive in scale, his compositions employ multiple perspectives and a diverse range of mediums, from watercolor and oil to tempera, creating a dynamic visual experience.
A recipient of numerous accolades, including the Rajasthan Lalit Kala Academy Award (thrice), the AIFACS Award, and the Tulika Kalakar Parishad Award, Lalit has exhibited extensively in India and internationally, with showcases in the UK, U.S., the Netherlands, and Japan. His works are housed in esteemed collections such as Jawahar Kala Kendra, the Taj Group of Hotels, and Cardiff’s New Library.
