Laxman Aelay

Born in 1964 in Kadirenigudem, Nalgonda district, Andhra Pradesh, senior and well-known artist Dr. Laxman Aelay first followed a different career route, earning a degree in commerce and working as a signboard painter, designer, and book illustrator. His love of the fine arts drove him to seek a BA in Painting at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University College of Fine Arts in Hyderabad, even though he was successful in these other domains. Deeply entrenched in nostalgia, Dr. Aelay's artistic journey reflects the people and rural surroundings of his childhood in the Indian village of Kadirenigudem. His early paintings, which were shown in important shows like "Contemporary Deccan - A New Generation of Artists," were renowned for depicting the impoverished people's lives in his hamlet.
